The doll is made of bisque porcelain and has delicately hand painted detail. In keeping with Rockwell's love of historic costumes and settings, this lovely miss from the 1850s is authentic down to the final stitch on her "Sampler" she is a sweet reflection of a gentler time, when young ladies devoted themselves to hearth and home and the pursuit of domestic arts. This doll is truly beautiful - from her rich brown hair, drawn back in a cluster of curls at the nape of her neck, to her exquisitely sculpted face and shoulders. The hand tailored and authentically styled antebellum gown could have could have been copied from a museum display! A delicate lace flounce frames her lovely shoulders and the wide, elbow-length sleeves are edged with lace and velvet ribbon. The entire sampler scene has been reproduced in remarkable detail. This doll includes a chair, a embroidery stand, sewing basket and foot pillow. Original issue price was $130. This doll, issued in 1989, is 15 inches sitting. She is in excellent condition and comes with her original box. *All four dolls bear the serial number B8886 for the set.
