Some fun facts: The famous Hollywood director Martin Scorsese – maybe you’ve heard of him? – directed the music video for the album’s self-titled single, which stars a young Wesley Snipes as Jackson’s antagonist. But the real video is much longer than the one you saw on MTV – it’s actually almost 18 minutes long, which lands it in short-film territory. Another fun fact: While it’s now practically a snoozer move, back then, many viewers were scandalized by Jackson’s now-famous crotch grab in the video. But our favorite fact about this video is this juicy scoop: “Bad” was originally conceived as a duet between Jackson and Prince, but Prince didn’t want to say the opening line, “Your butt is mine”, and he didn’t want the line said to him. Later on, he admitted that he was also glad he didn’t end up in the music video. ”The Wesley Snipes character? That would have been me,” he told Chris Rock in an interview back in 1997. “Now, you run that video in your mind!”
