This is a smart move on the gypsies’ part, because having a permanent address has more setbacks than we can keep track of. For starters, not a day goes by without someone knocking on our door during dinner trying to sell us cookies, convert us to a new religion, or present us with a search warrant. Every year we have to flip a coin to decide whether we’re going to pay taxes or eat that April. Finally, we’re sick of having to see our parents-in-law as many as two times a year. That’s just inhumane. But we bet the girl scouts, the IRS, and even our mother-in-law couldn’t find us if we just moved across country every night!

Life on the road is great! Getting to explore real America, seeing the sights, making friends with the colorful characters who hang around outside truck stops, picking up hitchhikers, eating gas station food that was packaged during the Truman administration. We envy the itinerant, free-spirited gypsies who actually get to live that life for real!
