Ah, the 70s. We remember them like they were exactly at least 38 years ago. Jimmy Carter took the world by storm with his frank, humble approach to politics, cardigan sweaters, and hostage crises. Scooby Doo taught us to our great relief that there is no such thing as monsters — only deranged criminals who would stop at next to nothing to carry out their evil plans. And what a pleasure it was eating Mr. T Cereal directly out of the box while watching Charlie’s Angels from the comfort of our orange and brown plaid couch while our mom got ready for her night shift at Howard Johnson’s in the other room.

But what we remember best about that particular decade was the women’s fashions. Wrap dresses, bell bottoms, Joni Mitchell styled tie dyes, Osmond perms, and patterns like nothing our imaginations would ever have permitted us to conceive of unaided. Psychedelic peacock prints, flower patterns cast from the depths of the kaleidoscope dimension, and colors which can’t occur alongside one another naturally. We wish we could go back to when fashion meant something more groovy.
