Description

The activity of embalming might not appeal to most, but Anubis loves it! In fact, it’s pretty much his favorite thing of all time, since this Anubis dude was the god of embalming and the dead. Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis watched over those who had shoved off this mortal coil, and he was also represented in Greek mythology as being the god who helped embalm Osiris after he was killed by Seth. As a sign of respect, Egyptian Priests often wore a mask of Anubis during mummification ceremonies. And he might look a lil’ treacherous, but after the embalming and mummifying processing, it was believed that this underworld-dwelling god politely escorted his new-found soul buddies into the underworld, and, y’know, showed them the ropes. Kind of like an underworld Resident Advisor!
