Step aside, everyone, step aside. No, even further. The man with the badge and the toolkit has arrived, and until he’s secured the scene, no one should touch or move anything.

In fact, until he has entered the room, quipped once or twice, and removed his shades, you should not even be looking at the evidence. Your breath, even, could ruin the integrity of the scene and the investigation! Haven’t you ever seen an episode of the myriad crime-scene-investigation shows on each and every primetime cable network, set in each corner of the nation, with a cast of smarmy yet likable criminal justice professionals?! We know the answer, so slowly step back and make way for the dude with the badge, pal. Please and thanks.

That’s our spiel for when your child inevitably dons this child CSI costume, allowing your little guy to walk around as if he’s an expert on investigating unsolved crimes. It’s a 100% polyester jacket with “CSI” printed in gold lettering on the back and on the left of the chest, including a matching baseball cap. The badge and aviator sunglasses are sold separately though. After you grab those, teach him a few lines from your favorite show—so he can whip off his shades in spectacularly dramatic fashion, just before commercial break—and he’ll be as believable as any of those television cops could ever hope to be.
