Battlestar Galactica has been around for almost 40 years, so long that Lorne Greene who starred in the hit 60s show Gunsmoke also played Commander Adama in the original series. It’s known for its great characters, and few of them are as awesome as Captain Apollo. (Well, we also really like Number Eight, but for entirely different reasons…)

Captain Apollo is the leader of Blue Squadron, a Viper fighter pilot of the eponymous Battlestar Galactica. He overcame a lot of adversity early on in his life, losing his home and family when the Twelve Colonies were attacked by the Cylons. The Cylons made a big mistake, getting Apollo’s dander up like that, though. Apollo would go on to kill Red Eye, lead the paratroop assault on the Cylon city on Gamoray, sneak into a Cylon base in order to destroy it, and otherwise just do whatever he could to make sure the Cylons had a bad time of things in general.

If you’re a Battlestar Galactica fan, maybe you’d like to pay tribute to the great Richard Hatch this year by dressing as his legendary character. It has the shirt, pants, belt, and necklace, everything you need to be the Captain. And while there may not be any real Cylons to kill, you could always put some firecrackers in your microwave. That’ll show the machines who’s boss!
